37th Annual Annie Awards Rules and Categories
Nominations are currently being accepted for the 37th Annual Annie Awards. Honoring excellence in the field of animation, the Annie Awards will be presented in 25 categories including best animated feature, home entertainment, television production, television commercial, short subject, video game, as well as individual achievements. The 37th Annual Annie Awards will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at UCLA's Royce Hall, in Los Angeles, California. The Annie Awards will also be webcasted on www.annieawards.org, at a later date.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR'S ANNIE AWARDS RULES
The following are changes from last year's Annie Awards rules:
- The Individual Achievement television or short form categories have been changed back to recognizing individual achievements in television only.
- In both the feature and television individual achievement music categories, a composer and lyricist who have written songs appearing in a production shall be considered as part of the music team, and shall be eligible to be receive an Annie Award in these categories.
- An individual who has worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as a Lead Animator, shall be eligible to receive an Annie Award in the Individual Achievement character animation categories.
- All ASIFA-Hollywood members shall determine the award recipient in all Production categories (feature, home entertainment, short subject, television commercial, television production, television production produced for children and video game).
- Final election committees of animation professionals shall determine the award recipients in all Individual Achievement categories.
- Only select categories will require video clips for balloting (see: “If You Are Nominated” and read both balloting and award show requirements)
SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY
Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that were released in the United States between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
Entries submitted for consideration in the Production categories will be nominated based on the completed production in its entirety. Entries submitted for consideration in the Individual Achievement categories will be nominated based on work from a single production; entries will not be nominated based on a body of work (e.g., an entire television season of writing). Teams must be entered in Individual Achievement categories for Directing, Music and Writing, providing that each person received the required screen credit to be eligible member of the team. Partial team submissions will not be accepted.
The person submitting the entry must be a member of ASIFA-Hollywood in good standing. While any individual may submit an entry for consideration, each entry form must be signed by an Executive Producer or Producer associated with the production.
WHO MAY ENTER
Any member of ASIFA-Hollywood may enter submissions for Annie Award consideration, or may make recommendations for the Juried Award. A person who is not a member of ASIFA-Hollywood may join the organization when submitting their entries. Annual membership dues are $75 ($100 if residing outside the United States).

An entry form must be filled out for each submission that is being entered for award consideration.

MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS — ENTRIES ONLY
For categories requiring clips, all footage must be submitted on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please).
Clip submissions must be no longer than 5-minutes for each entry. EXCEPTION: For the Television Commercial and Short Subject categories, the entire production will need to be provided.
In the case of the Character Design, Production Design and Storyboarding categories, paper copies of artwork and storyboards will need to be sent (do not submit original materials; they cannot be returned). Please refer to the “Mechanical Requirement for Entry” in each category for exact specifications.
A copy of the original entry form must also be included with the nomination material that is being submitted.
All video footage must be slated either on the DVD menu or at the head of picture and other printed judging materials must be clearly labeled as followed:

COST OF ENTRY
Membership to ASIFA-Hollywood is required to be eligible to enter submissions for Annie Award consideration, or to make recommendations for the Juried Awards. Annual membership dues are $75 ($100 if residing outside the United States). The first entry submitted is $25. There is a $100 entry fee for each additional entry. Entry fees and membership fees (if needed) must accompany the entry and must be received no later than October 16, 2009. Entries not received by this deadline shall be charged an additional $250 late fee, per entry, or shall be subject to disqualification.
Annie Award sponsors may have all or partial entry fees waived, depending on sponsorship level, which are as followed:
- Platinum and Gold Sponsors — A waiver of all Annie Award entry fees.
- Silver Sponsor — A waiver of Annie Award entry fees for a maximum of thirty (30) entries.
- Bronze Sponsor — No Annie Award entry fees waived.

NOMINATION PROCESS
Nominating Committees will choose nominees from eligible entries. The Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood will appoint Nominating Committees. A committee comprised of individuals qualified to judge that category will judge entries in each category. Each committee may choose between two and five nominees from the pool of eligible entries. If a Nominating Committee feels there are no entries worthy of recognition, it may elect not to give any award, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. If a Nominating Committee feels there is only one entry worthy of recognition, it may elect to give the award to that one entry, subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
VOTING PROCEDURES
ASIFA-Hollywood members shall determine the award recipient in all Production categories (feature, home entertainment, short subject, television commercial, television production, television production produced for children and video game). Final selection committees of animation professionals shall determine the award recipients in all Individual Achievement categories.
ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE
Only members of ASIFA-Hollywood in good standing as of November 30, 2009 shall be eligible to participate in the 37th Annual Annie Awards voting. Voting will be conducted online, by secret ballot. Online balloting shall begin on January 18, 2010 and end on January 29, 2010.

PRODUCTION CATEGORIES
1. Annie Award for Best Animated Feature
An Annie Award for Best Animated Feature shall be awarded to an animated feature in recognition of creative excellence in the art of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an animated feature must have originally been released theatrically between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips from the production on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. Please label the DVD and DVD case as instructed under Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.
2. Annie Award for Best Animated Home Entertainment Production
An Annie Award for Best Animated Home Entertainment Production shall be awarded to an animated production in recognition of creative excellence in the art of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an animated home entertainment production must have been originally produced for, and released on DVD, between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Compilations or animated productions that originally premiered in other media (e.g., theatrical or television) and were later released on DVD shall not be eligible to receive this award.

3. Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject
An Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject shall be awarded to an animated short subject in recognition of creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an animated short subject must have been originally exhibited or released on any media (e.g., theatrical, television, Internet) between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Individual segments from an animated television program, television specials, pilots or television commercials are not eligible to receive this award. Animated main title, interstitials, DVD bonus material, music videos and trailers may also be considered for this honor.

4. Annie Award for Best Animated Television Commercial
An Annie Award for Best Animated Television Commercial shall be awarded to an animated television commercial in recognition of creative excellence in the art of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an animated television commercial must have originally appeared on television between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. In cases where multiple commercials were part of an advertising campaign, each spot must be submitted as a separate entry.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: The entire commercial on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please). Please label the DVD and DVD case as instructed under Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.
5. Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production
An Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production shall be awarded to an animated television series or animated television special in recognition of creative excellence in the art of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award an animated television program must have originally appeared on television between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Re-runs or animated productions that originally premiered in other media (i.e. theatrical or home entertainment) and were later shown on television are not eligible for this award. Productions entered in this category shall not be eligible for an Annie Award for Animated Television Production Produced for Children.

6. Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production Produced For Children
An Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production Produced for Children shall be awarded to an animated television series or animated television special in recognition of creative excellence in the art of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award the animated television production should be targeted towards a children's audience, and must have originally appeared on television between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Re-runs or animated productions that originally premiered in other media (i.e. theatrical or home entertainment) and were later shown on television are not eligible for this award. Productions entered in this category shall not be eligible for the Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production.

7. Annie Award for Best Animated Video Game
An Annie Award for Best Animated Video Game shall be awarded to an animated video game in recognition of creative excellence in the art of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award an animated video game must have originally been commercially released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips demonstrating game play and cinematics on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT CATEGORIES
For the purposes of the Individual Achievement Awards, qualified individuals who have worked on either an animated theatrical feature or home entertainment production shall be considered eligible in all individual achievement Feature categories.
Qualified individuals who have either worked on an animated television production or television production produced for children shall only be eligible to be considered in the Television categories.
The Animated Effects category is open to all animated productions.
8. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Animated Effects
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Animated Effects shall be awarded to an Effects Animator for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as an Effects Animator on a single production, in any medium (e.g., theatrical, television, video game), that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Individuals responsible for creating animated effects appearing in a live action production may also be considered for this award. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award. In the case where multiple Effects Animators have worked on the production, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration.

An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Character Animation in a Television Production shall be awarded to a Character Animator for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit a Character Animator on an animated television production, on a single character, or multiple characters in a single production, that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Individuals responsible for creating character animation in a live action production are also eligible to be considered for this award. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award. In cases where multiple Animators have worked on the same character, or characters, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration.

Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as a Character Animator or Lead Animator, on an animated feature or home entertainment production, on a single character, or multiple characters in a single production, that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Individuals responsible for creating character animation in a live action production may also be considered for this award. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award. In cases where multiple Animators have worked on the same character, or characters, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration.

Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as a Character Designer on an animated television production originally appearing on television between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. A Character Designer may submit either a single character, or multiple characters from a single production for consideration in this category. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award. In the case where multiple Character Designers have worked on a production, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration. In the case of an animated television series, where a Character Designer has created a character or multiple characters for more than one episode, designs from each episode must be submitted as a separate entry.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A maximum of ten character model sheets (no original artwork, please). Each sheet submitted may be no larger than 11 x 17. 12. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Character Design in an Animated Feature Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Character Design in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded to a Character Designer for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as a Character Designer on an animated theatrical feature or home entertainment production that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. A Character Designer may submit either a single character, or multiple characters from a single production for consideration in this category. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award. In cases where multiple Character Designers have worked on a production, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A maximum of ten character model sheets (no original artwork, please). Each sheet submitted may be no larger than 11 x 17. Please label all material submitted as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.
13. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Television Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded to a Director, or a team of Directors, for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, Director on an television production, television, originally appearing on television, between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. A team of Directors is also eligible to receive this award provided that each person received identical screen credit as Director on the production. Partial team submissions will not be accepted. In the case of an animated television production or animated television production produced for children, where a Director has directed more than one episode in a series, episode must be submitted as a separate entry.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips from the production on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. 14. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded to a Director, or a team of Directors, for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, Director on an animated theatrical feature or home entertainment, or a Director of animation on a live action/animated theatrical feature, or a home entertainment production that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. A team of Directors is also eligible to receive this award provided that each person received a screen credit as Director or Co-Director on the production. Partial team submissions will not be accepted.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips from the production on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. 15. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Television Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded for creative excellence for music in the field of animation.
Eligibility: The entire music production, including main title, underscore and songs, shall be judged for award consideration in this category. Partial submission will not be accepted (i.e. songs only). Only original music and songs that were written for the production, shall be eligible for this award. To be eligible to receive this award, an individual or a team of individuals must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as a Composer and/or Lyricist on animated television production that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. In the case of an animated television production where a Composer or music team has written music for more than one episode of a series, the music for each episode must be submitted as a separate entry.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips from the production featuring a representation of the music (score and/or songs), on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. Please label the DVD and DVD case as instructed under Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.
16. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded for creative excellence for music in the field of animation.
Eligibility: The entire music production, including main title, underscore and songs, shall be judged for award consideration in this category. Partial submission will not be accepted (i.e. songs only). Only original music and songs that were written for the production, shall be eligible for this award. To be eligible to receive this award, an individual or a team of individuals must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as a Composer and/or Lyricist on an animated theatrical feature or a home entertainment production that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips from the production featuring a representation of the music (score and/or songs), on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. 17. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Television Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded to an individual for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the area of, and received screen credit for color, design, or layout on an animated television production, that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award. In the case where an Artist has created artwork for more than one episode in a series, artwork for each episode must be submitted as a separate entry.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A maximum of ten (10) sheets of designs (no original artwork, please). Each sheet submitted may be no larger than 11 x 17. Please label all material submitted as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.
18. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded to an individual for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the area of, and received screen credit for either color, design, or layout on an animated theatrical feature or animated home entertainment production that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. This award shall only be given to a single individual. It may not be given as a team award.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A maximum of ten (10) sheets of designs (no original artwork, please). Each sheet submitted may be no larger than 11 x 17. Please label all material submitted as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.
19. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Television Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded to a Storyboard Artist for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, a Storyboard Artist on an animated television production produced for children or video game, originally appearing on television between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. This award may only be given to a single individual. It shall not be given as a team award. In the event that multiple Storyboard Artists have worked on a single production, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A maximum of forty (40) storyboard pages (three panels per sheet, maximum), per artist. Multiple sequences may be entered. Storyreels shall not be accepted. Storyboard pages may be no larger than 11 x 17. Each storyboard page must be numbered in the lower right hand corner indicating the specific page number of the total number of pages being submitted (i.e. 1 of 40, 2 of 40, etc.). 20. Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production
An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded to a Storyboard Artist for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, a Storyboard Artist on an animated theatrical feature or animated home entertainment production that was originally released between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. This award may only be given to a single individual. It shall not be given as a team award. In the event that multiple Storyboard Artists have worked on a single production, each artist must submit their own work as a separate entry for consideration.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A maximum of forty (40) storyboard pages (three panels per sheet, maximum), per artist. Multiple sequences may be entered. Storyreels shall not be accepted. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded to a female or a male voice artist for creative excellence in the field of animation.
Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, a voice artist must have provided the voice for a single character in an animated television production originally appearing on television between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. In the event a performer has provided the voice for multiple characters on the production, each individual character performance must be submitted as a separate entry for consideration.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Clips from the production showcasing the voice actor's performance, on a Playable Standard Definition DVD, NTSC format (copy protection free, please), not exceeding five minutes (5:00) in length. Please label the DVD and DVD case as instructed under Mechanical Requirements. Also include a copy of the entry form with the material submitted.

JURIED AWARDS
25. June Foray Award
The June Foray Award may be given to an individual who has made a significant and benevolent or charitable impact on the art and industry of animation.
The Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood shall select by a two thirds (2/3) majority vote a single award recipient. This award recipient may be selected from the pool of submitted recommendations or may be chosen from outside the recommendation pool. At its discretion, the Board of Directors may elect not to give an award.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A detailed statement describing the person's involvement in animation and how he or she has made a positive and significant impact on the animation industry and the art form. Also include any supplemental material that supports the recommendation such as articles or letters of recommendation. Be sure to label supplemental material so that they may be clearly identified. Also, please include a copy of the recommendation form with the material submitted.
26. Ub Iwerks Award
The Ub Iwerks Award may be given to an individual or company for a technical advancement that has made a significant impact on the art or industry of animation.
A jury appointed by the Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood shall select a single nominee to be presented to the Board of Directors. This nominee may be selected from the pool of submitted recommendations or may be chosen by the jury from outside the recommendation pool. At its discretion, the jury may elect not to select a nominee.
The Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood, by a two thirds (2/3) majority vote, shall then either ratify the selection made by the jury, choose another recipient, or at its discretion elect not to give the award.
Mechanical Requirements for Entry: A detailed statement describing the technical achievement and how that achievement has made a significant impact on the art or industry of animation. Also include any supplemental material that supports the recommendation such as brochures, letters of recommendation, or a DVD, which demonstrates the technical innovation. Be sure to label the DVD and DVD case as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements. Other supplemental material should be similarly labeled. Also, please include a copy of the recommendation form with the material submitted.
27. Winsor McCay Award
A Winsor McCay Award may be awarded to a maximum of three individuals in recognition of lifetime or career contributions to the art of animation in producing, directing, animating, design, writing, voice acting, sound and sound effects, technical work, music, professional teaching, or for other endeavors which exhibit outstanding contributions to excellence in animation.
An individual currently serving on the Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood is ineligible to receive the Winsor McCay award. The Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood shall select by a two thirds (2/3) majority vote an award recipient. This award recipient may be selected from the pool of submitted recommendations or may be chosen from outside the recommendation pool. At its discretion, the Board of Directors may elect not to give an award.
NOTE: The deadline to submit Winsor McCay Award recommendations is September 18, 2009.
28. Annie Award for Special Achievement in Animation
An Annie Award for Special Achievement in Animation may be given to an individual, individuals, or a company for unique and outstanding achievement falling within the Annie Award eligibility period and not recognized within the existing award category structure. This special award would be given by the Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood, only by a unanimous vote, when such recognition is deemed desirable.
29. Certificate of Merit
Certificates of Merit shall be awarded to an individual or organization for service to the art, craft, and industry of animation. The Board of Directors of ASIFA-Hollywood, by a two thirds (2/3) majority vote, shall choose one or more Certificate recipients, or at its discretion elect not to award any Certificates.
NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT
The nominations for the 37th Annual Annie shall be made on December 1, 2009.
IF YOU ARE NOMINATED
Nominees shall be required to provide ASIFA-Hollywood with materials as follows:
New video clips will be required as digital Quick Time Movie (.mov) files for the online balloting process and for the awards ceremony as specified below under “Mechanical Requirements.”
Exceptions: the four Production Design and Character Design categories will re-use artwork submitted for judging and will not require additional submissions for the balloting process. Awards ceremony will require artwork stills (see below).
Files for both the ballot and for the show MUST BE DELIVERED NO LATER THAN 2:00 p.m. Monday, DECEMBER 14TH, 2009. (More details below.)
In the event that a Nominee does not supply material required for the Annie Award balloting process and award ceremony by the December 14th deadline, or if material provided by that date does not follow the mechanical specifications as required, ASIFA-Hollywood may generate the necessary item from nominee's nomination entry material. If this occurs, nominees shall be subject to a $250 administrative/post production fee, per nomination, to cover the cost of producing or re-formatting elements to our specs. [DELETE: for the award ceremony.]
BALLOTING MATERIAL (note: this has changed since last year)
To ensure that members review the nominations prior to voting, nominees shall be required to provide judging material for the online Annie Award ballot as follows.
For all production categories (not individual achievement or design categories), one video file, one-minute (:60) in length selected from the footage that was submitted for nomination consideration will be needed.
Exception: Productions nominated in the Short Subject and Television Commercial categories, a new digital file of the entire production will be needed for the online Annie Award ballot.
Balloting material will not be needed for the individual achievement categories, since the Final Selection Committees will review the entry material provided by the nominee in order to determine the award recipients in these categories.
AWARD CEREMONY MATERIAL
As part of the Annie Award ceremony, clips of the nominees work to be shown during award presentation will be required.
For all production categories and individual achievement (not design categories), one video file, seven-seconds (:07) in length selected from the footage that was submitted for nomination consideration will be needed.
Exception: Music categories can be ten seconds (:10) in length.
Nominees in the Animated Effects and Character Animation categories are asked to provide two (2) matching clips, seven-seconds each (:07), consisting of one clip of the animators' original animation, plus a corresponding clip of the finished scene. Do not combine them together in one frame: we will do that.
Nominees in the Production Design and Character Design categories are asked to provide four still files of artwork per nomination.
Nominees in the Storyboarding categories are asked to provide two (2) matching clips, seven-seconds each (:07), consisting of one clip of the original animatic, plus a corresponding clip of the finished scene. Do not combine them together in one frame: we will do that.
Nominees in the Short Subject and Television Commercial categories must provide a new, seven-second excerpt (:07) for the ceremony.
MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS — ONLINE BALLOTING AND AWARD CEREMONY
ACCEPTABLE VIDEO FORMATS — These must be strictly adhered to. ANY deviation will be subject to a $250 administrative/post-production fee per nomination.

PROGRAM BOOK MATERIAL
ASIFA-Hollywood will publish an Annie Award program book, which will be given to everyone in attendance at the award ceremony. A downloadable version of the book will also be posted on the Annie Award website.
Nominees in the production categories will be requested to supply a black and white digital image (high res (300 dpi) digital files) from the production.
Individuals nominated in the individual achievement category will be asked to provide a digital image (high res (300 dpi) digital files) of either black and white photograph or caricature of the nominee and a brief biography (75 words, or less). The deadline to receive material for the program book is December 11, 2009.
Bios should be emailed to Annette O'Neil at Annette@annieawards.org. Black and white photos or caricatures should be emailed to Olivia Hernandez at Olivia@odez.com.
In the event that a Nominee does not provide material required for the Annie Award program book by this deadline, or if material provided does not follow the mechanical specifications as requested, ASIFA-Hollywood may generate the necessary material for the program book. If this occurs, Nominees shall be subject to a $250 administrative fee, plus any production costs, per nomination.
OTHER USE ENTRY AND NOMINATION MATERIALS BY ASIFA-HOLLYWOOD
All entry material and nomination material provided for the Annie Awards shall become the property of ASIFA-Hollywood, and at its discretion may be used by the organization for archival, educational and publicity/promotional purposes.
CHANGES TO NOMINATION LISTING
There will be a $250 fee for any changes made to a nomination listing after the Annie Award nominations have been announced. Additional charges may also be imposed in the event that a change to any nomination listing results in any unforeseen costs to ASIFA-Hollywood.
AWARDS CEREMONY
Annie Award recipients will be announced and presented with their awards at the Annie Awards ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at UCLA's Royce Hall, in Los Angeles, California. The Annie Awards will also be webcasted on www.annieawards.org, at a later date.
CERTIFICATES AND TROPHIES
a) Nomination Certificates shall be awarded to all Annie Award Nominees.
b) Commendations may be purchased by the producer of an Annie Award nominated or winning production as recognition for those individuals who materially contributed to the Annie Award winning production. The cost of a Commendation is $25 per certificate.
c) Commendations may be purchased by a person who has been either been nominated or awarded an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement as recognition for those individuals who materially contributed to the Annie Award winning work. The cost of a Commendation is $25 per certificate.
d) A single Annie Award trophy shall be given to an Annie Award winning production. Individuals either receiving screen credit as Producer or Director on an Annie Award winning production, or a studio or company that materially contributed to the Annie Award winning production, shall be eligible to purchase a duplicate Annie Award trophy. The cost of a duplicate trophy is $500 per award.
e) A single Annie Award trophy for Outstanding Individual Achievement shall be given in each category. In the case of a team award, each team member shall receive a trophy.

Nominees are permitted to inform ASIFA-Hollywood members about their Annie Award nomination(s). Items such as a DVD, an invitation to screenings of an Annie Award nominated production, or other promotional material may be sent to the voting membership of ASIFA-Hollywood. Nominees are also strongly encouraged to post the judging material that was submitted for nomination consideration on the Internet. ASIFA-Hollywood will link all nominees “for your consideration” pages from its Annie Award website, at no charge.
