ENTRY PROCEDURES
Nominations are currently being accepted for the 35th Annual Annie Awards.  Honoring excellence in the field of animation, the Annie Awards are presented annually by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood.

SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY
Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that first publicly aired, or were exhibited in an animation festival or were commercially released in the United States between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007.

Entries submitted for consideration in the Production categories will be nominated based on the completed production in its entirety. Entries submitted for consideration in the Individual Achievement categories will be nominated based on work from a single production; entries will not be nominated based on a body of work (e.g., an entire television season of writing). Teams must be entered in Individual Achievement categories for Directing, Music and Writing, providing that each person received the required screen credit to be eligible member of the team. Partial team submissions will not be accepted.

The person submitting the entry must be a member of ASIFA-Hollywood in good standing. While any individual may submit an entry for consideration, each entry form must be signed by an Executive Producer or Producer associated with the production.

ENTRY PROCEDURE AND SUBMISSION DEADLINE
An entry form must be filled out for each submission that is being entered for award consideration.

To enter, go to the Forms page and fill out an entry form, then submit it online.

After the form has been sent, you will be instructed to print out the completed entry form. This hard copy will then need to be signed by the Executive Producer or Producer associated with the production. The signed form, along with an Inventory and Fees form and appropriate entry fees will then need to be sent to ASIFA-Hollywood.

The deadline to receive all forms (online and hardcopy) and fees is October 5, 2007.

In addition to submitting an entry form, each entry will also be required to provide ASIFA-Hollywood with specific items (i.e. clips, storyboards, designs, etc) for nomination judging purposes. The deadline to receive nomination materials is October 26, 2007.

MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS
For categories requiring clips, submissions must be no longer than 5-minute. All entries will be edited together in Final Cut Pro for judging purposes.

Please submit self-contained, digital (Quick Time) files on DVD-Rom. Do NOT make a playable (MPG2) DVD. Rather, this is a standard DVD used as data storage.

Preferred format:

8-bit uncompressed (720x486)

Highest quality but excerpts longer than about 3.5-4 minutes will have to be split across two DVDs, since DVDs only store 4.2 GBs (this year). We will stitch them together. A few frames of handles across a scene edit point would be helpful.

Alternates if above is not possible:

DVCPRO50 (only works with Final Cut Pro) (720x480)

Smaller file, will fit on one DVD.

DV Codec (720x480) (incls. DVCAM)

Smaller file, will fit on one DVD, but quality not great, especially for animation.

Animation Codec at 99% quality (720x486)

Slightly smaller file, might fit on one DVD.

AVIDs, but PLEASE use an above codec if possible:

AVID 1:1 Quick Time

Same note as 8-bit uncompressed above.

AVID 2:1 Quick Time

Smaller, compressed file, will fit on one DVD.

Material not using one of these codec’s is subject to disqualification. Please contact Les Perkins at les@annieawards.org, if you have any questions about these technical specifications.

In the case of the design and storyboarding categories, copies of artwork and storyboard will need to be sent (do not submit original materials; they cannot be returned). A copy of the original entry form must also be included with the nomination material that is being submitted.

Please consult the category in question for specific mechanical requirements.

All video footage must be slated at the head of picture and other printed judging materials must be clearly labeled as followed:

35TH ANNUAL ANNIE AWARDS
CATEGORY NUMBER AND NAME
NAME OF INDIVIDUAL AND CREDIT RECEIVED (if applicable)
PRODUCTION COMPANY
TITLE OF PRODUCTION
TOTAL RUNNING TIME (if applicable)

Entries that do not follow these Submission and Mechanical requirements are subject to disqualification.
